The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing to construct discontinuous main lanes and associated improvements along State Highway 170 from I-35W to State Highway 114, for a distance of approximately six miles.

Attend a public hearing on Dec. 19 at Kay Granger Elementary School, 12771 Saratoga Springs Circle. Displays will be available for viewing at 6 p.m. with the formal hearing starting at 6:30 p.m. Comments must be received on or before Jan. 3, 2020, to be part of the official hearing record.

The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project. The proposed project would:

  • Construct four main lanes (two in each direction) from I-35W to Westport Parkway, from Park Vista Boulevard to Independence Parkway and from the Union Pacific Railroad to the Denton County line.
  • Restripe the existing State Highway 170 main lanes from two lanes (one in each direction) to four lanes (two in each direction) and ramp modifications between the Denton County line and State Highway 114.
  • Remove the Alta Vista Road, Haslet Roanoke Road and Roanoke Road crossings to enhance operating conditions, safety and mobility.

The project would not require additional right-of-way or easements and would not require any residential or commercial displacements or relocations.
