Community Engagement Workshops and Neighborhood Awards focus on connections

Interact with and learn from neighborhood leaders across the city during the workshops and awards ceremony.

Each year, neighborhood leaders, elected officials, area agencies and city departments gather to share and discover effective ways to actively engage their community. This year’s Mayor’s Community Engagement Workshops & Neighborhood Awards will be held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix St.

The event will connect neighbors with more than 40 exhibitors and six workshops focused on the “Essential Principles of Neighborhood Leadership” led by City of Fort Worth staff and local partners.

The Neighborhood Awards Luncheon will recognize neighborhood associations’ efforts to revitalize, socialize, engage, collaborate, get healthy and communicate with neighbors with 14 award categories.

Eighteen neighborhood associations who submitted applications have been selected as 2019 Neighborhood Award finalists in various categories:

  • Berkeley Place Neighborhood Association.
  • Carter-Riverside Neighborhood Association.
  • Crawford Farms Homeowners Association.
  • Eagle Ranch Property Owners Association.
  • Eastern Hills Neighborhood Association.
  • Eastgate Neighborhood Association.
  • Garden of Eden Neighborhood Association.
  • Historic Rosedale Park Neighborhood Association.
  • Las Familias de Rosemont Neighborhood Association.
  • Marine Creek Estates Homeowners Association
  • Park Glen Homeowners Association.
  • Ridglea Hills Neighborhood Association.
  • Ridglea North Neighborhood Association.
  • Ryanwood Neighborhood Association.
  • Tehama Ridge Homeowners Association.
  • Villages of Woodland Springs Homeowners Association.
  • Wedgwood Square Neighborhood Association.
  • Woodhaven Neighborhood Association.

Finalists have also been announced for several awards:

  • Neighborhood Patrol Officer of the Year: Allen Pennington, Jennifer Russell, Rafael Salazar and James Salinas.
  • Danny Scarth Trailblazer Award: Elaine Klos, Anderson and Dorothy Lampkin, David Lunt, Theresa Sheehy and Jim Teague.
  • Fort Worth Neighbor of the Year Award: Dylan Costanza, Daniel Guido, Erica Jones, Caryn Sloan, Leslie Stroud and Russell Zwerg.
