Development Services continues to safely meet residents' needs during COVID-19 outbreak

Posted April 24, 2020

City of Fort Worth Development Services is operating in full force and offering all services remotely while still providing exceptional service.

Development and permitting services have not been slowed by the COVID-19 shutdown, and city staff members aim to continue momentum throughout the pandemic. Applications, consultations and all other needs are being met with the online permitting system, online appointment system, virtual meetings, phone calls, emails and electronic documentation.

Information to keep in mind:

  • Staff is leveraging the latest technology during this period for optimal delivery and service to residents.
  • With permitting levels remaining steady, plan review is consistently meeting the goal of seven days to first comment.
  • Permits previously not available online are now available in the online permitting system. These include all building permits, change of use, all trade permits, fire permits, licensing, registrations, platting, infrastructure and more.
  • The ability to pay fees with either check or credit card is now available online. This includes water, sewer, grease trap, park and recreation, easements, and more.

Additional details and contacts are posted online.

Inspection services will remain the same; however, staff members have begun performing live video inspections for certain permit types. In an attempt to meet every need, there will not be in-person assistance. All services are offered remotely. These modifications will remain in effect until social distancing recommendations are lifted by the City of Fort Worth.

For residents who schedule an online appointment, the Development Support services team will call ahead to discuss needs and will then assist with completing any services remotely.
