Worth Sharing stories celebrate all the good things happening in Fort Worth neighborhoods.

In the age of physical distancing — with whole sectors of society abruptly separated from their neighbors — Fort Worth’s Community Engagement Office has been working with neighborhood and faith leaders to help communities cope in these difficult times.

The goal is to show residents new ways to help each other however possible.

Read about some of the innovative ways the Community Engagement Office has been working with and for Fort Worth’s communities:

  • Since the pandemic began, the Community Engagement Office has contacted more than 1,500 registered neighborhood association leaders by phone to check on their neighborhoods, remind them of the importance of sharing the Community Engagement Bulletin to their entire neighborhood and inform them about city service updates, COVID-19 resources and other city programs.
  • The Community Engagement Bulletin is a weekly newsletter with current resources and community updates. It is now available as downloaded pdfs in English and Spanish. Staff increased the frequency of Community Engagement Bulletins from weekly to three to four times per week to keep neighbors current on all COVID-19 resources and city declarations.
  • Partnered with area agencies, faith-based organizations, and city and county departments to create and maintain an online Community Resources Guide on the city’s COVID-19 page.
  • Contacted more than 4,500 neighbors by phone from historically-underserved ZIP codes to check on them, direct them to area resources, food pantries and utility assistance.
  • Created an opportunity for neighbors to celebrate all the good things happening in their neighborhoods. More than a dozen positive stories, called Worth Sharing, have been shared via social media and City News.
  • To promote social distancing, the Community Engagement Office is now training registered neighborhood association leaders on how to use free online meeting options for their neighborhood meetings.
