Neighborhood Street Rehabilitation

Neighborhood rehabilitation projects rehabilitate the existing asphalt roadway with new asphalt and replace damaged curbs and gutters. Existing driveway approaches and sidewalks may be reconstructed.

The city uses several techniques to rehabilitate streets. One method includes milling/cutting the street surface from gutter to gutter and then applying an asphalt overlay. The existing pavement is heated to scrape it and recycle some of the surface material while applying new materials at the same time.

Other streets are rehabilitated at the existing base with cement and the surface is overlayed, and some streets are reconstructed with concrete.

Replacement of damaged curbs and gutters and existing driveway approaches are also done during rehabilitation.
