The city is offering free comprehensive water assessments for industrial, commercial and institutional customers. Assessments are conducted by our consultant, Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. (APAI), who has been dedicated to water resources and environmental engineering for more than 30 years.
This program evaluates water end use and provides recommendations to reduce consumption and costs. The assessment covers water use from irrigation, cooling towers, metering, process water, laundries, rinsing, kitchen, outdoor fountains and more.
What to Expect
APAI will contact you to obtain general information needed for the preliminary assessment. This may include facility demographics (number of staff, visitors, cafeteria hours, etc.), plans, lot size, irrigation areas or schematics of process flows. If you are a larger industry, there will be a kick-off meeting to introduce you to the program and cover expectations. After the kick off, APAI will conduct the evaluative facility walk-through while discussing water uses, conservation ideas, efforts and future plans.
Depending on the size of your property, multiple days may be necessary to complete the assessment.
Evaluation and Audit Report
A comprehensive summary of the site assessment will be provided in a follow-up meeting. During this meeting, current water uses, potential water efficiency measures with expected savings, implementation costs and return on investment will be discussed. Recommendations are based on best management practices and can become a compass to refine and enhance the water efficiency of your facility.
If your business is seeking ways to reduce water use, energy costs and save money, email us to request a SmartWater assessment for your facility.
Participants in this program, who implement recommendations from the final assessment report, are eligible to apply for this award and tout their water savings. The objective is to recognize your achievements toward greater water efficiency in this customer class.
