Reuse

Donation box

Reusing items and donating usable items are two of the most effective ways to be good stewards the planet's resources. Living in a city the size of Fort Worth makes it easy to find a charity or donation center that will accept unwanted items and help get them into the hands of someone that can use them.

Two donation options available to Fort Worth homeowners and renters are a “Help-Yourself Shelf” located at the Environmental Collection Center and the future Goodwill Donation Stations located at each of the Drop-off Stations. In partnership with Goodwill, residents will be able to drop off their donations and receive a tax receipt. At the Drop-off Stations, residents can bring gently used items in good condition such as bicycles, books, furniture (except bedding and mattresses), appliances, clothing, garden tools, and exercise equipment. At the Environmental Collection Center, donations of unused and/or partially-used chemicals, cleaners, and paint to the “Help-Yourself Shelf” are available to other residents to take and use for free, saving these items from disposal.

There are also many other donation options offered by independent groups, and some organizations also offer free collection of reusable items from your home. Below is a list of organizations and some items they accept. Visit the individual organization website to see a full list of options.
