Water Utility Task Force
On March 5, the City Council approved Resolution No: 4185-03-2013, appointing a nine-member ad hoc task force charged with:
- Determining the feasibility and desirability of pursuing public/private partnerships that may result in lower costs for utility customers and that may add value for City ratepayers and municipal government
- Identifying alternatives for the management and operation of the City’s water and wastewater systems
- Assessing the legal and fiscal implications of public/private partnerships
- Providing the City Council with appropriate recommendations
In conjunction with the resolution, the City Council approved M&C C-26143, authorizing execution of a professional services agreement with EMA, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $328,622.00 to develop and manage a solicitation process to evaluate options for public/private partnerships involving the management and operation of the City's water and sewer utility.
The Task Force completed its work in October and presented its findings and recommendations to the City Council on Tuesday, Oct. 22 during the 8:30 a.m. Pre-Council meeting.
