EPA develops and enforces regulations that implement environmental laws enacted by Congress. One of EPA's responsibilities is to establish and enforce national drinking water standards.

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality provides leadership and policy guidance for state, federal and local initiatives. Its goal is to conserve and protect Texas’ natural resources (air, water, land, wildlife, and minerals) in a consistent manner to encourage sustainable economic development and minimize harmful environmental effects.
