The City of Fort Worth is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and infrastructure and capital facilities play a critical part in that continued growth.

The construction projects in these pages are projects that the city has funded, and committed to complete in the coming years. They include everything from the creation of new buildings and infrastructure, to the maintenance and upkeep of existing facilities.

Diamond Hill Community Center Replacement

Parks, Recreation & Community Center Improvements

Cantrell Sansom Road

Widen Cantrell Sansom Road between Mark IV Parkway and the future IH 35W southbound frontage road. The widening will consist of adding two westbound and two eastbound lanes.

Cromwell Marine Creek Road Widening

A four-lane divided road from Bowman Roberts Rd. to S. Chesterfield Dr. with two-lane roundabouts at Bowman Roberts and Huffines Blvd. will be constructed.

Haltom Rd Railroad Crossing Improvements

Safety improvements at the intersection of the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) railroad and Haltom Road.

Long Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation

This project will replace the E. Long Avenue bridge deck over the railroad and rehabilitate the roadway approach.

District 3

Walnut Creek Sewer Extension

The Walnut Creek sewer extension will provide sanitary sewer service for future development.

Alemeda Street Stormwater Improvements

Culvert improvements are proposed for Alemeda
Street south of Camp Bowie West Boulevard to address
existing hazards from flood waters overtopping
this location. In conjunction with the culvert
improvements, the road will be widened and realigned
so that it lines up with Alemeda Street north of Camp
Bowie West.

Park Hill Drive & 8th Avenue Infrastructure Improvements

Water and/or sewer mains will be replaced in the Park Hill Drive and 8th Avenue area. This area is bound by West Jessamine Street to the north, West Cantey Street to the south, Shirley Avenue to the west, and 8th Avenue to the east.

Downtown Street Resurfacing Program 2023

This project is the last phase of a four-year program started in 2020 for improvements to the downtown Fort Worth streets.

Safe Routes to School - C.C. Moss & M.L. Phillips

This Safe Routes to School project completed new sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways, and signs for both Christene C. Moss and Mary Louise Phillips Elementary School campuses.

District 4

Golden Triangle Boulevard

An arterial, a four-lane high-capacity road, will be constructed from I-35 to Misty Redwood Trail.

Harmon Road Widening

Harmon Road has been rebuilt as a four-lane road from Golden Triangle Boulevard to US287.

Basswood Boulevard and Kroger Drive at US377

Design and construction of safety and capacity improvements at the Basswood Boulevard crossing of the UPRR at the intersection of US 377 and at the Kroger Drive Crossing of the UPRR at the intersection of US 377.

Upper Big Fossil Creek Wastewater Improvements

A sewer main that runs through The Golf Club Fossil Creek will be rehabilitated and a new sewer main will be constructed to run parallel to the existing main.

Westcliff, Foster Park, Overton & Summerfields Area Improvements

Existing water and sewer mains will be replaced in an area bound by Sunnybank Drive at Western Center Boulevard to the north, Overton Ridge Boulevard to the west, South Drive to the south and Trail Lake Drive to the east.

District 5

Benton Avenue, Near Southside Infrastructure Improvements

Improvements include rehabilitation of existing asphalt pavement, new curb and gutter, driveways and replacement of water/sewer mains and services on the following streets: Benton Avenue - Hampshire to Old Handley House Street - Panola to Cul-de-sac Windowmere Street - Benton to Springfield

Village Creek Facility Biosolids Management and Beneficial Reuse

Fort Worth is changing the current method of repurposing biosolids at the Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility.

Lake Arlington Force Main Part 1 Improvements

The Lake Arlington force main is part of a project that will increase the sanitary sewer capacity to handle projected growth. That growth includes the new Tarleton campus as well as the wholesale cities of Burleson and Crowle

Safe Routes to School - South

Completed in 2023. New sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways, signs and more at both Daggett and D. McRae Elementary School campuses.

Avenue J & Avenue K Infrastructure Improvements

Fort Worth Water is replacing water mains in an area east of Collard Street, between Avenue J and Avenue K.

District 6

McCart Ave. and McPherson Blvd. Project

McCart Avenue, from Risinger Road to McPherson Boulevard, will be constructed as a four-lane, divided arterial. McCart Ave., from McPherson Boulevard to Twin Leaf Dr., will be constructed as a two-lane, undivided roadway.

North Crowley Rd & N Crowley Cleburne Rd Intersection

Intersection improvements will be made to the existing intersection at North Crowley Road and North Crowley Cleburne Road.

Westcliff, Como, Bluebonnet and Stop 6 Infrastructure Improvements

The Westcliff, Como, Bluebonnet and Stop 6 Infrastructure Improvement project includes three areas in three council districts. The project sites are south of I-30/West Freeway, east of Camp Bowie Boulevard, northwest of Granbury Road and west of East Loop 820 South.

Tavolo Park Sewer Main Improvements

A 30-inch in diameter sanitary sewer main will be rehabilitated - or replaced - in an area that is bound by Altamesa Boulevard to the north, Harris Parkway to the east, Columbus Trail at Old Granbury Road to the south and Quail Ridge Road to the west. This is in the Tavolo Park and The Chisholm at Tavolo Park area.

South Hills South Water and Sewer Improvements

Existing water and sewer mains will be replaced in an area bound by Interstate 20 to the north, McCart Avenue to the east, South Hills High School to the south and Westcreek Drive to the west.

District 7

Animal Care & Control Facility

A second animal care and control facility that will be located in north Fort Worth will be designed. This facility is expected to house approximately 100 animals.

Bonds Ranch Road Improvements Phase 2

Road work on Bonds Ranch Road from US 287 to Shire Meadow Drive has been completed. Work continues on miscellaneous drainage improvements.

Altamesa Boulevard & Crowley Road Intersection Improvements

Enhancements to the existing intersection at Altamesa Boulevard and Crowley Road (FM731)will be implemented. These enhancements include adding additional left-turn lanes and other recommended improvements.

Crowley Road & Altamesa Boulevard Intersection Improvements

Intersection improvements including new left turn lanes, accessible ramps and crosswalks, and new traffic signals.

Crowley Road & Sycamore School Road Intersection Improvements

Reconstruction of portions of the Crowley Road and Sycamore School Road intersection including additional left turn lanes and new signalization.

Near Southside Improvements

This four year program addresses needed street improvements by facilitating redevelopment and revitalization in identified areas of the Near Southside District.

North Crowley Rd & N Crowley Cleburne Rd Intersection

Intersection improvements will be made to the existing intersection at North Crowley Road and North Crowley Cleburne Road.

Park Hill Drive & 8th Avenue Infrastructure Improvements

Downtown Street Resurfacing Program 2023

This project is the last phase of a four-year program started in 2020 for improvements to the downtown Fort Worth streets.

Near Southside Improvements

This four year program addresses needed street improvements by facilitating redevelopment and revitalization in identified areas of the Near Southside District.

Union Pacific RR Kellis Quiet Zone

This project will design and construct paving improvements to support quiet zone implementations at five crossings of the Union Pacific Railroad including Bewick Street, Dickson Street, Bolt Street and Kellis Street.

Safe Routes to School - South

Completed in 2023. New sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways, signs and more at both Daggett and D. McRae Elementary School campuses.

Central Arlington Heights Property Acquisition & Drainage Improvements

Voluntary property acquisition project to acquire flood-prone properties on Western and Carleton between Bryce and El Campo.

Greenfield Acres Drainage Improvements

An underground storm drain system will be constructed on Cindy Lane, from Ten Mile Bridge to North Ridge Road, and on East North Hill Lane.

I-35W Construction Closures and Detours

Construction on I-35W from I-30 to US 287 is in full swing. Capacity improvements span 18 miles and include a section of highway that is ranked as the state's eighth most congested roadway. Know the closures and detours before you get in the car.
