Lost a pet?

Losing a pet is extremely stressful. But lost animals can be found weeks to months after they go missing, so it’s important not to give up!

Here's how to maximize your search:

  • Regularly search the stray animals who've been found and reported to FWACC.
  • Walk around your area and speak to neighbors.
  • Post flyers in your neighborhood.
  • Post online in local lost pet groups and social media platforms like Nextdoor or RING.
  • If your pet is microchipped, contact the microchip company to confirm your contact information is correct.
  • Search PawBoost, a lost and found database with numerous free tools to help bring your pet home.

Found a pet?

Discovering a stray pet can be a tricky experience if you aren’t sure what to do!

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you:

  • Check for a microchip: Take the pet to a local veterinarian’s office or animal shelter to scan for a microchip. This tiny device often holds crucial information about the owner and is pivotal to help a pet find their way home.
  • Spread the word: Post about the found pet on local lost and found groups and social media platforms like Nextdoor or RING. The more people who know, the better the chances of reuniting the pet with their family.
  • Ask around: Knock on doors in your neighborhood and ask if anyone is missing a pet matching the description. Sometimes, word of mouth can be the quickest way to find the owner.
  • Contact:  If you have found a pet in the City of Fort Worth, visit the shelter location closest to where the animal was found to have the animal checked in! This is often the first place owners check when looking for a lost pet. FWACC can also provide resources and guidance on reuniting the pet with their owner!

By following these steps, you can play a crucial role in helping a lost pet find its way back home.
