Lost a pet?

Losing a pet is heartbreaking, but many are reunited with their families—even weeks later. Stay hopeful and take these steps:

1. Search and Post on Petco 'Love Lost'

Use the Petco Love Lost tool below to search found pets and post your own lost pet alert. It uses photo-matching to help connect pets with their owners.

2. Check with Fort Worth Animal Care & Control

Visit the FWACC website often to view recently found pets. Your pet may be brought in at any time, so check daily.

3. Walk the Neighborhood and Talk to Neighbors

Search nearby streets, parks, and alleys—especially early or late in the day. Ask neighbors if they’ve seen your pet and leave a flyer behind.

4. Post Online and in Your Community

Share your pet’s photo on local platforms like Nextdoor, Facebook lost pet groups, and Ring. Also post flyers in high-traffic spots nearby.

5. Update Microchip Info & Check PawBoost

Call your pet’s microchip company to confirm your contact info is current. Also search and post on PawBoost for added visibility.

Found a pet?

Discovering a stray pet can be overwhelming—but a few simple steps can make a world of difference. Here's how you can help reunite a lost pet with its family:

1. Post a Photo Online

Use the Petco Love Lost tool linked on this page to upload a clear photo and description of the pet. This image-matching platform helps lost pets get noticed and recognized by their owners quickly.

2. Check for ID and a Microchip

Look for a collar or ID tag that might list the owner’s contact information.
Then, take the pet to a nearby veterinarian or a City of Fort Worth shelter to scan for a microchip. This small chip can hold vital contact details that may reconnect the pet with their family.

3. Spread the Word on Social Media

Share the pet’s photo and where it was found on local platforms like:

  • Facebook neighborhood groups

  • Nextdoor

  • Ring's Neighbors app

  • Local community boards

The more eyes on your post, the better the chance of reaching the right person.

4. Talk to Your Neighbors

Sometimes the owner is just a few doors away. Walk around the area where you found the pet, knock on doors, and ask if anyone recognizes them. A quick conversation can lead to a fast reunion.

5. Contact Fort Worth Animal Care & Control

If you're in Fort Worth, take the pet to the nearest shelter location to where it was found. This is often the first place owners check when searching for their pet.
FWACC can help scan for a chip, check lost pet reports, and offer guidance and support to get the pet home safely.
