Fort Worth Celebrates Gold Medal Status with PetSmart Charities

Fort Worth Animal Care & Control is proud to announce that our satellite adoption centers have achieved Gold Medal Status with PetSmart Charities. This prestigious recognition is awarded to shelters that have successfully completed over 1,000 adoptions through PetSmart stores. By reaching this milestone, our organization has earned a spot in the Adoption Partner program’s top tier, joining an elite group of only 53 shelters nationwide.

This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our passionate staff, who strive each day to save lives and connect pets with loving families. Our two satellite adoption centers, located within PetSmart stores, have played a pivotal role in this achievement. One is at the Hulen location in Southwest Fort Worth, and the other is at the Alliance location in North Fort Worth, offering more convenient options for residents to adopt pets in addition to our main shelter locations. 

Longstanding Impact on the Community

The adoption center at Hulen, one of the longest-running PetSmart Adoption Centers (EACs), opened its doors in April 2010. Since then, nearly 26,000 animals have found their forever homes, thanks to the center's dedicated efforts. Just a year later, the Alliance adoption center opened in November 2011 and has since placed over 21,000 animals into loving homes.

A Welcoming Space for Adoptions

Both adoption centers operate daily during regular store hours, providing a warm, inviting environment for pets and potential adopters. Each location features:

• Spacious kennels for adult dogs, puppies and small dogs.
• A designated cat adoption area.
• Play spaces for dogs to interact and socialize.
• Meet-and-greet areas where adopters can interact with pets to find the perfect match.

By offering these amenities, we ensure that our pets have the best chance at finding their new family in a setting that prioritizes comfort and connection.
