It’s National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, April 14-20. We truly appreciate ours!

Fort Worth Animal Care & Control’s ACOs go beyond the call of duty to ensure the wellbeing of pets and people in our community. The work is physically demanding and emotionally exhausting. Despite the daily challenges, our dedicated officers pour their heart and soul into their jobs.

As a token of gratitude for their awesomeness, our ACOs and the entire shelter team will be treated to a full week of activities, like yummy breakfasts, carnival games and (yes) a dunk tank. (Thank goodness for 80-degree weather!)

As our staff enjoy some well-deserved fun this week, it’s important to realize the incredible work they do 24/7/365.

In the world of animal control, times are tough. Despite their tireless efforts – which include increased adoptions and transports – staff members are finding it challenging to keep pace with the influx of strays and surrendered animals coming through the doors daily.

So if you see one of our Animal Control Officers this week, throw an extra-big smile of appreciation their way!
