Environmental Services

Environmental Services Department works to protect public health, properties, environmental and natural resources through effective management strategies, public education, and engagement with the community in order to create a clean, safe, and green city. It safeguards against pollution through litter prevention and reduction efforts and through improved waste management. Teams are committed to environmental stewardship practices and behaviors through compliance, pollution prevention, sustainability, recycling and reuse. They provide residents with services, technical guidance, and volunteer opportunities to support achievement of City goals.

Environmental Services Divisions

Consumer Health

Consumer Health protects the public by providing an array of health and safety inspections to include food, child care and public swimming pools. Training is provided for food handlers, child care workers and pool operators.

Environmental Quality

Environmental Quality protects public health, properties, and natural resources by safeguarding against pollution in the city's land, water, air and litter management strategies.

Garbage & Recycling

Solid Waste Services provides residents with curbside collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk. Additional residential services include the Drop-Off Stations and Environmental Collection Center.

Environmental Master Plan

An environmental master plan is a set of long-range strategies to protect human health and the environment in Fort Worth. Environmental planning guides the city’s programs and services to safeguard community resources and protect human health, safety, and the environment.

Solid Waste Comprehensive Plan

The City of Fort Worth's new 2017 – 2037 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan was unanimously approved in Sept. 2017. This plan is a purposeful effort to re-think and re-evaluate the very notion of 'waste' and creates plans to turn today's 'waste' into resources for tomorrow. Learn more »
