Fort Worth Launches Free 'Mobile Tool Shed' to Empower Residents

The City of Fort Worth is excited to introduce the Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed, a community tool-sharing initiative designed to help residents with property maintenance. This innovative program provides free access to essential yard tools, making it easier for Fort Worth residents to manage lawn care, home improvement and property upkeep. 

The Mobile Tool Shed program is initially being offered as a pilot and is available to residents in the Worth Heights, Seminary and Fairhaven neighborhood areas. Thanks to this new project, residents will be able to borrow a variety of yard tools at no cost, including:  

The goal is simple: to ensure yard work and property maintenance are accessible, affordable and stress-free for all residents, no matter their income level or transportation access. 

How It Works 

Getting involved with the Mobile Tool Shed program is easy. Fort Worth residents can register online or by calling the City of Fort Worth at 817-392-1234. After signing up, they can schedule a convenient delivery of the tools they need, right to their doorstep. The tools can be borrowed for up to three days, providing ample time to complete projects. Initially, residents can have tools delivered to their homes on Fridays, with the Mobile Tool Shed picking them up the following Monday. In the future, residents will be able to choose any day of the week to rent tools. Once the work is done, the Mobile Tool Shed will pick up the equipment from the resident's home, making it available for others in the community.

A Free and Convenient Service 

The best part? The program is completely free for residents. Thanks to city funding, the program eliminates barriers to property maintenance by offering tools on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are encouraged to register early to ensure they have access to the tools they need. While the program is currently available in select neighborhoods, the City of Fort Worth plans to expand it citywide in the near future.
