Rolling Up Our Sleeves: Code Officers Dive into Community Outreach
Published on February 20, 2025
The mission of Code Compliance is to enhance Fort Worth by ensuring safe, vibrant neighborhoods. In early 2025, our Code officers reflected on how to better engage with the communities we serve. Our teams decided to shift our focus from traditional office hours toward more impactful community outreach.
We quickly teamed up with Paige, the Director of the Las Vegas Trail Revitalization Project (LVTRise), a local initiative committed to transforming the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood. Together, we decided that instead of holding office hours, the Code Department would actively participate in community events and provide hands-on support where it was needed most.
On Jan. 14, the Code Compliance team rolled up their sleeves and participated in their very first food drive with LVTRise. The event was an overwhelming success, with officers working diligently to prepare and distribute food to families in need. From sorting fresh fruits and vegetables to packaging non-perishable goods, our team worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Officers Whisenant, Drewry and Laird were fully immersed, ensuring that each food box was packed efficiently and personally assisting families by carrying the boxes to their vehicles.
By the end of the day, approximately 80 families received much-needed food, and our team felt a deep sense of fulfillment knowing they had made a tangible difference in their community.
The Code Compliance team is committed to continuing and improving our outreach efforts. We believe in strengthening our connection to the community and finding new ways to contribute to its growth and success. We look forward to what the future holds as we strive to make Fort Worth a better place for all its residents.
Stay tuned for more updates on our outreach efforts and future community initiatives!
