 Urgent care versus emergency room

The City of Fort Worth health plan allows for urgent care visits to in-person providers like CareNow or CVS Minute Clinic or to telemedicine providers, like Teledoc, who are available through virtual visits 24/7

Health plan members should be as aware as possible of the differences between an emergency vs. a non-emergency. There are times when a hospital emergency room visit is needed. The breakdown costs for copays is listed below for emergency vs. non-emergency visits to the hospital emergency room:

  • $300 copay for emergency room visits (but will be waived if admitted to the hospital)
  • $300 copay + 50 percent coinsurance after deductible if the visit is a non-emergency issue.
