Learn about reading by touch and the history of Braille writing while making tactile Braille letters.
As part of the cultural fiber of Fort Worth, your library creates spaces and opportunities for conversations and exploration. We created this cultural program specifically for children of all ages and their caretakers.
The Braille reading system was created by Louis Braille as a reading and writing system for the blind. Braille himself lost his vision at age three after an accident. Unlike other reading systems for the blind at the time, Braille was able to make his more conversational and included punctuation marks and symbols, making it far easier for people to read.
