Cliburn amateur pianists to perform free concerts at libraries
Published on October 11, 2022
For the eighth time, the Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition will bring together non-professional musicians to test their piano-playing acumen for top honors in Fort Worth.
They work in medicine, education, law, engineering, business and technology. They hail from countries around the world with wide-ranging cultures, languages and experiences. But they all have one thing in common: an astounding commitment to and love of the piano.
Four free concerts allow the public to see competitors in person at Fort Worth Public Library locations.
The concerts are scheduled for:
• 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Ridglea Branch Library with performances by Catherine Grimball, Xiao Chen, Eugene Lee, Wei Ling Wang and Hideko Tazawa.
• 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the East Regional Library with performances by Esfir Ross, Kathy Abrahamson, Olivia Lee, Victor You and John William Schleifer.
• 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Southwest Regional Library with performers TBD.
• 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Summerglen Branch Library with performers TBD.
