New RISE Library

The Fort Worth Public Library has opened its newest location inside the Rise Community Center at 8201 Calmont Ave. The Rise Library in District 3 is 900 square feet providing materials, resources and classes inside a center designed as a centralized hub for community revitalization.
“The Fort Worth Public Library provides safe gathering places for the community and works hard to create a community of learners, dreamers, and doers,” said Library Director Manya Shorr, “The Rise Library will be a continuation of the good work we started in the Cambridge Court Library and we are thrilled to add a computer lab to our slate of resources. I am hopeful that our partnership with LVTRise in Las Vegas Trail will become a model for future library locations across Fort Worth.”
Shorr will be joined by LVTRise Executive Director Willie Rankin, LVTRise Board Chairman Ty Stimpson and Fort Worth District 3 Councilman Brian Byrd for a virtual ribbon cutting celebrating the opening at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 27 on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The Rise Library will feature free WiFi, 450 square feet of materials to check out including books, movies, hotspots and more in addition to 450 square feet computer lab designed to offer much needed classes and programming for the neighborhood. The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation provided the funding for the location’s furniture and technology. Rise Library will have staff who are bilingual and committed to meaningful programming for Las Vegas Trail residents of all ages.
“As circumstances change daily for all of us, LVTRise is thrilled to kickstart the partnership with the Fort Worth Public Library. Our revitalization initiatives require the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood to have access to the internet, literacy programs, and GED services,” said Rankin, “The library will actively work with us to provide these resources and opportunities for further educational growth to help make a safer neighborhood.”
In addition to offering convenient curbside service, the location will be open Tuesday through Friday 10:30 – 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m. While library locations continue to observe pandemic precautions, patrons will be required to observe occupancy limitations, temperature checks and screening questions.
