Community Action Partners and Reliant Energy Launch 'Beat the Heat' Program

To help residents stay cool and manage their electricity use during the summer, the City of Fort Worth's Community Action Partners, in partnership with Reliant Energy, has announced the statewide Beat the Heat Program for Fort Worth residents.

The elderly are especially susceptible to heat. It takes seniors nearly twice as long as younger individuals to return to their core body temperature after being exposed to extreme outdoor temperatures. Low-income or fixed income residents can take advantage of cooling centers listed below where they can rest and cool off.
