Preventing Homelessness for Our Heroes

The City of Fort Worth recognizes the sacrifices made by Texas veterans and their families. To honor their service and ensure they receive the support they deserve, we are proud to introduce our Forward Home Initiative. This program provides crucial one-time financial assistance for rent, mortgage, and utilities, helping to prevent homelessness and stabilize the lives of our veterans and their families.

These programs are funded by grants from the Texas Veterans Commission. In addition to the programs managed by the City’s Neighborhood Services Department Community Action Partners, there are other programs available throughout Tarrant County to support veterans and their families. Below are just some of the programs available to veterans:

  • Forward Home Veteran Assistance Grant
  • CLC Inc, COIN (Combatants Overcoming Income Needs)
  • CLC Inc, HARTH (Home Adjustment Program)
  • CLC Inc, Veteran Programs
  • Endeavors, Fort Worth - Veteran Supportive Services (VSS)
  • Fort Worth Vet Center- Veteran Services
  • Continuing the Climb Reentry Job Fairs
  • Veterans Crisis Line
  • U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs

Forward Home Program

This program helps veterans, surviving spouses and their families by providing them with one-time rental/mortgage and utility payments to prevent homelessness.

  • One-Time Rent Payments: Immediate financial aid to cover overdue rent, ensuring veterans and their families can remain in their homes.
  • Mortgage Assistance: Support to manage mortgage payments, protecting homeownership for those who have served our nation.
  • Utility Bill Coverage: Assistance with utility bills, ensuring essential services remain uninterrupted for veteran households.

Together, we can ensure that no veteran or their family has to face homelessness. Let’s honor their service by providing the support they deserve.
