Preventing Homelessness for Our Heroes The City of Fort Worth recognizes the sacrifices made by Texas veterans and their families. To honor their service and ensure they receive the support they deserve, we are proud to introduce our Forward Home Initiative. This program provides crucial one-time financial assistance for rent, mortgage, and utilities, helping to prevent homelessness and stabilize the lives of our veterans and their families.
These programs are funded by grants from the Texas Veterans Commission. In addition to the programs managed by the City’s Neighborhood Services Department Community Action Partners, there are other programs available throughout Tarrant County to support veterans and their families. Below are just some of the programs available to veterans:
This program helps veterans, surviving spouses and their families by providing them with one-time rental/mortgage and utility payments to prevent homelessness.
Depending upon the number of requests, funding for some programs may be limited or unavailable.
Veterans who wish to apply for the Forward Home Veteran Assistance program may apply by phone by calling Ruby Rubio at 817-392-8255. For inquiries on other veteran issues, please email the City of Fort Worth Veterans Affairs Officer at Joaquin.Castillo@fortworthtexas.gov.
