Buck Sansom Park is illustrative of the Board of Park Commissioners attempt at that time to acquire suburban parkland ahead of residential development even if there were no funds at the time to develop it until later. Sam Rosen, a Northside real estate developer best known for his namesake development, Rosen Heights, sold to the City of Fort Worth 32.57 acres out of the A. Voght and J. W. Ward surveys for $11,399.50 on April 4, 1927 for park purposes. A month later, Marion Sansom, Jr. gave forty acres out of the R. Vickery and J. Kirby surveys to the city. At the same time, he sold sixty-seven acres out of the Vickery, Kirby and W. Y. Allen surveys for $18,254. These parcels were the nucleus for what became known as Buck Sansom Park.
Today Buck Sansom Park, Marine Creek Linear North Park, Marine Creek Linear Park, Lincoln Park, and Rodeo Park create what is known as the Marine Creek Park Corridor.
