On September 22, 2009, the City Council accepted the dedication of 20.8 acres of unimproved land from FW-Trail Ridge Ltd. to serve the Trail Ridge Estates subdivision. In addition, the developer provided $47,280 for the neighborhood park development fee. At the request of nearby residents, the city council voted in 2012 to change the park’s name from Trail Ridge Estates Park to Chuck Silcox Park in memory of the former city councilman. Silcox (1943-2008) served on the city council from 1991 up to his death in 2008, the longest term of any councilperson. He was known for his fiscal conservatism and advocacy for neighborhoods.
