Fun facts

This park was originally called Sunset Heights Park, and this property was acquired around 1960 and contained 7.5 acres. It is named for Ed K. Collett, an insurance executive, who served on the Board of Park Commissioners from 1925 to 1945, many of those years as the board’s vice president. Mr. Collett died in 1948.

The park has a shelter, playground, and ball field. In 2009, it received parking lot, ball field, lighting and other improvements. Part of the funding for this work came from gas lease revenue.
