Located on the west bank of Lake Arlington in southeast Fort Worth, this park was created in 1986 and was named Lake Arlington Park. On July 28, 1998, it was renamed Eugene McCray Park shortly after Mr. McCray’s in death in May 1998. McCray, an African American, was a retired insurance executive and city councilman and was serving as mayor pro tem at the time of his death. He was a strong advocate for the social and economic improvement of southeast Fort Worth.
