This east side park was acquired in 1968 and contains approximately five acres. It is another example of placing city parks near schools as it is adjacent to A. M. Pate Elementary School located at 3700 Anglin Drive. The school was constructed in 1958-59 on land that was donated by Marie F. Pate and was named for her husband, Adlai M. Pate, Sr., president of Panther Oil and Grease Corporation, who died in 1947. The Pates were prominent philanthropists in Fort Worth. It was appropriate that the park was named for Mrs. Pate. Improvements over the years have included playground renovations undertaken in 2003 with funding from Community Development Block Grant Funds.
