On February 5, 2008, the City Council accepted the dedication of approximately 23 acres of unimproved parkland from Hayco Realty, Ltd. to serve the Marine Creek Ranch subdivision. Approximately three acres were set aside for the Northwest Branch Library, which opened in 2010. On December 2, 2008, the City Council authorized the acquisition of 20.054 acres of land for the expansion of the park, giving it approximately 43 acres. The park has a reserve status.
