Oakmont Linear Park became a city park in 1979. Much like Oakmont Park, it was acquired as part of the effort to preserve the greenbelt along the Trinity River. Approximately nine acres was added to the park in the mid-1990s, following a land swap between the Park Department and Trinity Valley School. The nearly 35-acre park is located at the southern end of Oakmont Park. Although held as a reserve park, public amenities include 0.52 miles of multi-use trails and fishing is allowed in a creek that runs through the park. Oakmont Park, Oakmont Linear Park, and Quail Ridge Park across Bryant Irvin Road to the south form a lengthy greenbelt near Pecan Valley Golf Course and Benbrook Lake.
