Fun facts and History

In 1959, the Cassco Land Company deeded a strip of land approximately one mile in length and varying between 100 and 150 feet in width for use as parkland. Originally part of the historic Edwards Ranch, the property was composed of approximately twelve acres and bordered the land company’s residential development called Overton Park.[1] Additional acreage was acquired and the linear park[VM1]  now has approximately 49 acres and creates a greenbelt belt that links the Tanglewood and Overton Park neighborhoods to the north with Foster Park to the south. Included in the park are a playground, trails, and tennis courts. Extensive trail improvements were made in 2008. Funding from the 2022 Bond Program will address streambank stabilization.[2] The park is scheduled to have a new playground in 2023.
