Fun facts and History

Rodeo Park is north of the commercial core of the Fort Worth Stockyards. It was acquired in 1971 and contains a shelter, portable restrooms, a playground, trails, and a volleyball court on approximately 5.46 acres. Rodeo Park, Lincoln Park, Marine Creek Linear, and Marine Creek Linear North form a greenway that nearly stretches the entire length of Marine Creek between North Main Street and Buck Sansom Park to the northwest. This parkway is similar to one proposed by S. Herbert Hare in 1942.

The park received playground renovations in 2008-09. In 2010, PACS applied for a $1,000,000 matching grant from Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Grants Branch to implement improvements to the parks along the Marine Creek Corridor. In 2011, Halff Associates was awarded a contract for design and engineering work for the project. Implementation began in 2013 and was completed by 2015. The work included replacement of sections of an existing trail that were in poor condition and did not meet ADA standards as well as the replacement of chain-link on backstops, and replacement of dugout benches, bleachers, and ball field lighting.
