Fun facts

This linear park sits along a stream in the Eastern Cross Timbers. Post oaks inhabit the upland, while riparian species are along the stream.

Recreation

The park has a 0.20 mile cement trail that follows the stream through the woods and connects the nearby neighborhood.

History

On February 5, 2002, the City Council approved the dedication of 10.205 acres of parkland from FW-SC Phase II Partner, Ltd. In 2005, the park received improvements consisting of playground, benches and a trail.

Geology

The geology of the park sits atop terrace deposits from the Pleistocene and Holocene ages. Ancient stream deposits of sand, silt, clay, and gravel are predominant.

Soils

The soil is Pulexas, which is a fine sandy loam deposited in frequent floods. The sloping upland portion of the park lies in Silawa series soils, which are deep, well-drained sand and loam.

Ecology

The park is a narrow, linear riparian stretch following an unnamed stream that eventually flows into the West Fork of the Trinity River. Dominated by riparian trees, there is an interesting diversity of invertebrate species including blue-ringed dancer, fragile forktail, citrine forktail, stream bluet, six-spotted tiger beetle, tawny emperor, and question mark butterfly.
