Fun facts

Trails of Fossil Creek Park is located in northwest Fort Worth and is a linear park following Fossil Creek. The creek earns its name from the fossils that are found throughout the Pawpaw, Weno Limestone, Fort Worth Limestone, and Duck Creek geologic formations. Ammonites, echinoids, oysters and pectens are some of the fossils found in these bedrock stratas. The soil is mostly of the Slidell series of Blackland calcareous clay. These soils have a lot of shrink/swell action. These saturated soils facilitate wetlands along the creek. Plants most often found include willow, giant ragweed, cattails and other wetland/riparian species.

The park features some picnic tables and a cement walking trail that follows the creek.
