Vinca Circle Park is one of approximately twenty parks located around Lake Worth. Although it was located on city-owned land, it wasn’t officially designated as a public park until 1970. The park has a view of Lake Worth but there is no lake access.
The geology of the park is Goodland Limestone Formation with Walnut Clay. Goodland is sedimentary rock laid down in a deep marine environment during the Early Cretaceous. The Bastsil series consisting of very deep, well-drained soils that formed in loamy alluvial sediments developing on stream terraces on river valleys. This loamy soil supports the majestic post oaks of the Western Cross Timbers. Large post oaks can easily be over 200 years old, with some trees in the region being well over 300 years old. Historic companion understory vegetation include little bluestem, sand dropseed, gayfeather, greenbriar, aromatic sumac, rusty blackhaw viburnum, and blackjack oak.
