On May 23, 1978, the City Council authorized a lease agreement with the Fort Worth ISD for the lease of land adjacent to Westwind Elementary School for park purposes. This agreement was for a 20-year period at a rental of $1.00 per year beginning on Nov. 1, 1981. In August 2005, the City Council authorized the extension of this arrangement for ten years with two five-year options to renew.[1] The park contains a shelter and playground on 2.1 acres.
