Want to have a splash at the pool this summer while earning extra money and gaining valuable work experience?

Individuals interested in becoming a lifeguard at one of the City of Fort Worth's aquatic facilities are asked to undergo tryouts before completing the American Red Cross lifeguard certification course. Class participants must be 15 or older to take the class, and must be 16 or older to work for the City of Fort Worth.

  • Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
  • Tread water for two minutes using only your legs.
  • Deep water brick retrieval - Swim 20 yards, surface dive to 7-10 feet, retrieve a ten pound brick, and swim back to the starting point and exit pool without a ladder/stairs.

Must be able to attend one entire session. Coursework will include online and in-person learning.
