The Water Department’s laboratory offers well water testing for well owners.

Well water panel includes:

  • chloride
  • conductivity
  • fluoride

  • total coliform
  • total hardness
  • total dissolved solids

In accordance with 30 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 230: Groundwater Availability Certification for Platting. (2) For proposed subdivisions where the anticipated method of water delivery is from individual water supply wells on individual lots, samples shall be analyzed for the following: Chloride, Conductivity, Fluoride, Iron, Nitrate (as nitrogen), Manganese, pH, Sulfate, Total Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids and Presence/Absence of Total Coliform Bacteria.

Testing Instructions

Step 1.Download a copy of the Well Water Testing Request Form.

  • If you are not able to download a form, contact the Water Laboratory at 817-392-5900 to have the form sent to you. (i.e. fax, mail or email)

Step 2.Take the completed request form to the following locations to pay for the well water testing:

  • Downtown to Water Customer Service
    • 100 Fort Worth Trail, 5th Floor, Fort Worth, TX
    • Accepted payments include cash, check or credit card.
  • Water Laboratory
    • 2600 SE Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX.
    • Accepted payments include exact cash, check or credit card.
  • Notify staff at the laboratory (817-392-5900) prior to coming to pay for the testing. The laboratory is within a secure facility.
  • Bring an official photo identification card to show security personnel for access to facility.

Step 3.Pick up the sample kit at the Centralized Water Department Laboratory.

  • Collect the samples according to the instructions in the kit and return to the Centralized Water Department Laboratory.
    • Notify the laboratory of the date the sample will be returned.
    • Bring an official photo identification card to show security personnel for access to facility.

Step 4.Analysis

  • Once the analysis is complete, you will be notified of the test results.
