Additional water quality testing performed over the past two days in northwest Fort Worth confirms the drinking water quality met all state and federal regulations. Discolored water does not mean there is a water quality issue that affects public health. The discoloration is traced to bringing additional treatment capacity online at the Eagle Mountain Water Treatment Plant. Flushing activities were reduced on Tuesday and ended completely by 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Seminary Drive Area Water and Sewer Improvements

Existing water and sanitary sewer mains will be replaced on both sides of I-35W. The project is bound by East Waggoman Street to the north, Union Pacific Railroad to the east, Sycamore Creek and SE Loop 820 to the south, and Hemphill Street to the west. Landmarks include the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, Union Pacific Railroad and the Fort Worth and Western Railroad.

Foster Park Neighborhood Area Water and Sewer Improvements

Existing water and sewer mains will be replaced in the Foster Park neighborhood association area. The boundaries of Fort Worth Water’s capital improvement project include Westdale Drive to the north, South Drive to the east, Interstate 20 to the south and South Hulen Street to the west. Overton Park Plaza is to the west of the project and Willow Lake is north of the project.

Altamesa Pump Station Backup Power and Electric Improvements

The Altamesa Pump Station is one of four large City of Fort Worth pump stations that are essential for water supply. The Altamesa Pump Station requires replacement of aging electrical switchgear and motor as well as backup generators. Improvements are vital to keep the pump stations operating if there is another deep freeze similar to the one that Fort Worth experienced in February 2021.

Como Pump Station Backup Power and Electric Improvements

The Como Pump Station is one of four large City of Fort Worth Water pump stations that are essential for water supply. The other pump stations in this project include Altamesa, Eastside and Edwards Ranch. The Como Pump Station requires replacement of aging electrical switchgear and motor as well as backup generators. The improvements are vital to keep the pump stations operating.

Chris Harder leads a staff of 1,000 employees in providing water, wastewater and reclaimed water services to a more than 1.4 million people in Fort Worth and surrounding communities. He has almost 30 years of experience in water utility operations and management.

A registered professional engineer in Texas. Chris’s work experience includes budgeting, capital planning, master plan studies and assessments, and design and management of numerous projects related to water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, storage tanks, pipelines and meter stations.
