Jared Williams

On June 5, 2021, Dr. Jared Williams was first elected to the Fort Worth City Council and re-elected May 5, 2023, serving as one of the youngest Councilmembers in the history of Fort Worth and the first African American to represent the single-member District 6, which includes Southwest Fort Worth and the historic Lake Como neighborhood.

Dr. Williams has a proven track record of building consensus and delivering creative solutions to everyday issues that affect people the most; working to ensure vibrant and safe neighborhoods, quality public schools, access to food security and healthcare, expansive economic opportunity, and attainable pathways to homeownership and quality housing.

Dr. Williams is a graduate of North Crowley High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Plant Science-Biotechnology from Fort Valley State University - a historically black college and university, a master’s degree in Environmental Science from Texas Christian University, and a doctorate in Environmental Science and Science Education from the University of North Texas.

In his spare time, Dr. Williams cherishes quality time with his family, especially his wife, Scioscia, their daughter and son, Janelle and Jameson, and their two dogs.
