An Instrumentation Electrical Technician I job is available with The City of Fort Worth Plant Operations Division. The Plant Operations Division of the Water Department is recruiting motivated individuals to perform a variety of tasks related to major and minor repairs of a wide variety of instrumentation and electrical equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in the instrumentation or electrical fields of construction, motor control maintenance, or process control instrumentation Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Physical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a Maintenance Electrician's License within 3 years of employment required.
  • 24 hour on-call duty is required, on a rotating basis
  • Associate's Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology, and /or a State Texas Journeyman or Master Electrical License
  • Skills in both instrumentation and electrical maintenance

The Instrumentation Electrical Technician I job responsibilities include: 

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic components and instrumentation pertinent to the wastewater treatment process
  • Inspect and maintain medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment (i.e. switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, selector switches, feeder cables, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Maintain active log of daily activities and field documentation
  • Provide technical support to co-workers, supervisory staff and other sections within the Water Reclamation and Reuse Facility and the Water Department.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demand
Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
