Fort Worth Animal Shelter pets gobbled up a special Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.

More than 30 volunteers worked the day before Thanksgiving to prepare 600 delicious meals for shelter pets. The menu included grain-free dehydrated dog food, pumpkin, green beans and chicken.

The food was made available by generous donations from Fort Worth residents responding to the shelter’s Amazon wish list.

The holiday event garnered national attention when CNN broadcast a report on Thanksgiving Day.

During the holidays and at all times, the animal shelter is seeking committed volunteers to help with a variety of tasks. Learn more about volunteering.
