United Way and the City of Fort Worth are committed to assisting families on a path toward financial security, but it takes committed volunteers to get the job done.

The VITA tax assistance program is looking for volunteers.

VITA is an IRS-supported, free income tax preparation program for qualifying families in Tarrant County. In 2020, the goal is to prepare 5,000 returns, helping families receive more than $8 million in earned income tax credit.

Volunteers are needed to greet clients, serve as interpreters, intake specialists and tax preparers. No prior experience is required, and free IRS tax preparation training will be provided. Volunteers may sign up online.

VITA is a partnership between the United Way of Tarrant County and the City of Fort Worth.

To learn more, contact VITA at 817-392-5698.
