    Presentations

  • Planned renovation of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. The Omni Theatre at the museum has been closed since March 2020 due to the state of its equipment, loss of technical talent and the overall deterioration of the facility. A planned renovation is estimated to cost $19.5 million and take 18 months. Planners are seeking funding from the City to assist with the renovation.
  • Proposed economic development program agreement with GKN Aerospace. Michael Hennig of the Economic Development Department explained that Fort Worth is one of the top candidates in a national site selection process for the company’s Global Technology Center. GKN Aerospace develops, builds and supplies an extensive range of advanced aerospace systems.
  • Implementation of recommendations from Police Expert Panel. Police Chief Neil Noakes provided an update on several topics: use of force and accountability; crisis intervention; recruitment and diversity; promotions and appointments; search warrants; and community policing.
  • Fire collective bargaining. Earlier this month, the City was notified by Local 440 that the proposed collective bargaining agreement was ratified by more than 50% of the association’s voting members. The Council is expected to vote on approval of the agreement Oct. 25.
  • Assessment of equity in municipal service delivery. Christina Brooks, chief equity officer and head of the Diversity and Inclusion Department, and Joe Minicozzi with Urban 3 LLC discussed a tool that will assist City officials in making fiscally sound and equitable decisions about infrastructure improvements and land-use.
