The American Red Cross is hosting National Sound the Alarm Day in the Northside neighborhood of Fort Worth from 9 a.m. to noon. Saturday, Nov. 5.

During the national event, volunteers will go door to door installing free smoke alarms for anyone who needs one. A limited number of carbon monoxide detectors will be available as well.

Since 2014, the American Red Cross has installed more than 2.5 million free smoke detectors across the country, saving more than 1,500 lives through the initiative.

The Red Cross goal is to install more than 500 free smoke alarms during the Northside drive. Households in the Northside can register by text at 806-376-6300 or by phone at 806-342-6176.
