The Fort Worth Animal Shelter reminds residents to keep an eye open for animals that may be struggling in the extreme heat.
In extremely high temperatures, an animal will struggle to lose excess body heat through evaporation. The situation is worsened if humidity is high or if there is no breeze. Tell-tale signs of heat stress: panting, increased respiration rate, increased drinking, loss of appetite and lethargy.
