East 4th St /1st St Bike Lane

This federally funded project includes the installation of an on-street bicycle lane.

One existing lane along East 4th Street/East 1st Street will become a bike lane.

The bike lane will run in both directions from Interstate 35 West (I-35W) to Haltom Road.

 

This project is located in Council Districts 8 and 11.

August 2024 Project Status

  • The project is under construction. Over 60% of the construction is complete. Anticipate multiple lane closures during construction.
  • Anticipate new pavement marking and Signage works within the project corridor for several weeks.
  • The contractor will install the median on E. 1st Street from N. Beach Street to Haltom Road.
  • Change order #1 to the construction contract will be presented to the City Council for their approval. The change order includes adding safety end treatment at the proposed concrete traffic barrier, replacing deteriorated concrete pavement, and adding the traffic signal pedestrian pole required to avoid the traffic signal pole conflict with the underground utility.
