The Edwards Ranch Pump Station is one of four large City of Fort Worth Water Department pump stations that are essential for water supply.
The other pump stations in this capital improvement project include Altamesa, Eastside and Como.
The Edwards Ranch Pump Station requires replacement of aging electrical switchgear and motor as well as backup generators. The improvements are vital to keep the pump stations operating if there is another deep freeze similar to the one that Fort Worth experienced in February 2021. These pump stations work to maintain consistent water pressure and provide adequate flow of water. The water pump stations serve to move potable (drinking) water from lower elevations to reservoirs and water towers that are at a higher elevation within the system.
The Edwards Ranch location is bound by Harlanwood Drive and Overton Park to the north, Overton Park Drive East to the east, Bellaire Drive South to the south and Overton Park Drive W to the west. The electrical and backup generator improvements work in this project will be contained within the Edwards Ranch Pump Station site – in the 3000 block of Overton Park Drive West.
This project also includes the replacement of a 36-inch to 42-inch in diameter concrete water line immediately in front of the pump station. This line dates back to the 1950s. The replacement will require the closure of the street and sidewalk in front of the pump station while the water line is being replaced. The replacement will take place when Tanglewood Elementary (approximately one block north of the pump station) is not in session.
The Edwards Ranch Pump Station project is in Fort Worth Council District 3 and the Tanglewood neighborhood association area.
