Water & Sanitary Sewer Imrpovements

The community construction meeting for the East Northside Drive area segment is slated for Thursday, November 14, at 11:30 a.m. at the Tarrant Regional Water District at 808 NE Northside Drive.

This segment is not in a roadway. The limits are from just north of NE 14th Street at Woods Avenue – approximately 70 feet west of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Track and parallel to North Side Drive -  to 100 feet east of the Tex Rail Track (at the former UPS Customer Center).

Fort Worth Water will use the slip lining technique – trenchless rehabilitation – under the railroads. Slip lining involves pulling or pushing a new pipe of a smaller diameter in to an existing pipe. The existing sewer pipe is 69-inches in diameter. The new pipe is 60-inches in diameter. The new pipe is made of reinforced fiberglass pipe.

New sanitary sewer and water mains will be installed in streets, alleys and easements in an area bound by NE 23rd Street to the north, Cold Springs Road to the east, NE 12th  street to the south, and Mule Alley – south of the Stockman Club and the Fort Worth Stockyards - to the north and west. The rehabilitation parallels the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Marine Creek and NE 23rd Street.

This Fort Worth Water capital improvement project includes:

  • Design of a proposed 42-inch in diameter sewer interceptor that would parallel the current  42-inch to 48-inch sewer interceptor. The current sewer interceptor runs north from East Northside Drive to south of NE 23rd Street along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad  right of way and Samuels Avenue, then west on NE 23rd Street from Samuels Avenue to Mule Alley;
  • Design of a 68-inch to  72-inch in diameter sewer interceptor that would parallel the current 69-inch in diameter sewer. The current interceptor runs south of East Northside Drive, perpendicular to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and under the right of way;
  • Design for the rehabilitation of the existing sewer interceptor (the 42-inch in diameter interceptor south of NE 23rd street and the 24-inch in diameter interceptor in NE 23rd Street);
  • Design of the proposed 12-inch water line on NE 23rd Street from Samuels Avenue to Mule Alley.

The impacted streets and easements include:

Fort Worth Council District 2

  • NE 23rd Street from Mule Alley to Samuels Avenue Drive (water and sewer)

Fort Worth Council District 2 and Fort Worth Council District 9

  • Samuels Avenue from NE 23rd Street to  East Northside Drive (sewer)
